Descrizione

Description

We do not know how this artist, native of Foligno and mainly active in Perugia, came to sign these two paintings (in the small cartouche in the lower left) of the saints Lorentino and Pergentino, painted for the oratory which takes their name and is owned by the Fraternity of Lay. The following of the two saints, who were brothers and martyrs of Arezzo in 250 A.D., had a very strong development in their native territory of Arezzo where they are still considered protectors of the city, along with the o cial Patron Saint Donato. The feast of the Saints Lorentino and Pergentino is still celebrated on June 3rd.
