Zoppi fu anche fotografo di dagherrotipi e forse morì a causa di questa tecnica nella quale era utilizzato il mercurio. Vittorio Fossombroni (Arezzo 1754 – Firenze 1844), matematico, ingegnere, economista e politico, fu invece l’autore del progetto di definitiva bonifica della Val di Chiana, caldamente voluto dal Granduca Pietro Leopoldo di Lorena, insieme a quella della Maremma.

Zoppi was also a daguerreotype photographer and his death may even be linked to his work with this type of photography as the technique involved the use of the harmful chemical mercury. The subject of this portrait Vittorio Fossombroni (Arezzo 1754 – Florence 1844) was a mathematician, engineer, politician, and economist. He was trusted by the Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo of Lorena to oversee the works for the drainage of Valdichiana.
