Descrizione

Vittorio Emanuele III fu re d’Italia dal 1900 al 1946. La datazione dell’opera può essere collocata proprio agli inizi del suo regno. Non se ne conosce l’autore che deve tuttavia essere ricercato tra gli scultori che operavano verso la fine del XIX secolo nel cimitero monumentale urbano, anch’esso di proprietà della Fraternita, realizzando architetture commemorative funerarie per le più illustri famiglie aretine.

Description

Vittorio Emanuele III was crowned ‘King of Italy’ in 1900. He ruled until 1946. The piece can be dated to the beginning of his reign. We do not know the author whose name must, however, be found among sculptors who worked in the late nineteenth century in the monumental cemetery of Arezzo (also owned by the Fraternity of Lay), making memorials and funeral monuments for the most illustrious families of Arezzo.
