Descrizione

Il dipinto è da più di cinque secoli tra le più antiche opere di proprietà della Fraternita. Giunta in pessime condizioni di conservazione, l’opera è stata oggetto di un recente restauro (2011) che ne ha reso nuovamente leggibile molti dettagli. I santi rappresentati ai lati del trono con la Madonna e il Bambino Gesù sono Donato vescovo e Stefano protomartire, molto cari alla devozione aretina.

Description

This panel is one of the oldest owned by the Fraternity of Lay, dating back more than five centuries. Due to the bad condition of its conservation, this painting underwent restoration in 2011. Today it is possible to enjoy again more details. The saints depicted on the sides of the throne of Virgin Mary and Jesus are Donatus, the Bishop, and Stephen, the first martyr, both dear to Arezzo’s devotion.
