Descrizione

L’ artista aretino si fece strada soprattutto a Firenze sia nel campo del restauro che come copista, e antiquario. Ebbe stretti rapporti con Pietro Benvenuti e nel 1827 divenne secondo restauratore della Galleria degli Uffizi. Per la Fraternita dei Laici, oltre ai due ritratti di Ludovico di Parma-Borbone e della consorte, Maria Luisa, destinati alla Libreria, ha realizzato anche le copie degli Autoritratti di Raphael Mengs e di Angelica Kaufmann degli Uffizi.

Description

This artist from Arezzo progressed in his career as a copyist, antiquarian, and restorer in Florence. He had a close relationship with Pietro Benvenuti and, in 1827, he became one of the official restorer for the Uffizi Gallery. For the Fraternity he painted these two portraits (see the Portait of Maria Luisa of Parma-Borbone and son) and copies after the two self-portraits by Raphael Mengs and Angelica Kaufmann preserved at the Uffzi Gallery.
