Descrizione

Angelo Ricci, pittore aretino, fu molto impegnato nella vasta opera culturale e artistica messa in atto in seno alla Fraternita dei Laici nell’ultimo ventennio del XVIII secolo. Oltre infatti all’allestimento della importante Libreria, al secondo piano del Palazzo di Piazza Grande egli fu il primo maestro di disegno della Scuola Libera di Disegno e Modellatura, istituita dalla Fraternita nel 1806. Forse anche questa opera fa parte di una donazione fatta dal pittore all’Istituzione nel 1782.

Description

Angelo Ricci, painter from Arezzo, was very involved in the vast cultural and artistic network implemented within the Fraternity in the last two decades of the 18th Century. Besides the painting in the hall of the Palace, depicting the Pallade Athena, and other canvasses for the new Library in the second oor of the Palace in Piazza Grande, Ricci was the rst Master of Drawing for the Scuola Libera di Disegno e Modellatura of the Fratrenity of the Lay, founded by the Rectors in 1806. This Aurora possibly belongs to the group of works donated by Ricci to the Fraternity in 1782.
